Founding Spirit and Educational Philosophy

Viscount Enomoto Takeaki, the founder of the Tokyo University of Agriculture, was an excellent politician who pioneered modern Japan, having served as Minister of Education, Foreign Affairs, Post and Telecommunications, and Agriculture during the Meiji period (1868–1912).

He was also a scientist who emphasized the importance of “Practical science” which focuses on the practical applied technology. Our university has inherited his spirit and has the founding spirit, “Break through to the future”, to develop human resources who will open up the future with information technology.

Also, our educational philosophy is based on “Modern practical science”, which values the following three points:

1. Respect for practical learning

2. Bring advanced information technologies to society

3. Emphasis on fundamental studies to realize the above two points
